Caf\u00e9 Najjar \u2013 Lebanon<\/strong><\/p>\n CCL was appointed to provide a specialised flooring solution for a major food processing factory in Lebanon. The floor comprises six joint-free slabs, each 667 m2<\/sup>. CCL provided a high-gloss, polished concrete, dust-free finish, sloping in two directions to allow for water drainage, which meets ISO 9001 and HACCP standards for food and beverage facilities.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Amesco Tower – Dubai, UAE<\/strong><\/p>\n CCL was asked to devise a solution to construct a massive extra level on top of an existing skyscraper to accommodate nine sky villas and an infinity swimming pool.\u00a0Upon completion, the Amesco Tower, which stands 50 storeys high, (including the 52-metre-span box girder transfer structure added by CCL, 20 m above level 49), will form an iconic landmark at the\u00a0centre\u00a0of the Jumeirah Lake Towers development in Dubai.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Khalifa Industrial Zone –\u00a0Abu Dhabi, UAE<\/strong><\/p>\n The Khalifa Industrial Zone, Abu Dhabi (KIZAD), is located equidistant between Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the UAE. CCL was commissioned to provide consultancy and\u00a0specialised\u00a0subcontracting works for Phase 1 of this huge industrial complex,\u00a0425,000 m2<\/sup>\u00a0in area, that encompasses 14 buildings and four 4,000 m3<\/sup>\u00a0water tanks.<\/p>\n CCL proposed a value-engineered solution which included analysis, design and execution of foundations, vertical structures, horizontal elements, geotechnical engineering work and specialised slab on grade.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Mount Vernon \u2013 Boston, USA<\/strong><\/p>\n The developer\u2019s vision to create a parking basement to serve newly-renovated townhouses in a conservation area in Boston required a solution which would support the entire structure above ground during excavation of the basement, and after construction was complete, while ensuring that structural movement was avoided. CCL\u2019s innovative solution was a two-way suspended post-tensioned slab with just two supporting columns which achieved these objectives and delivered the large spans that were required to create 14 parking bays and allow the associated vehicle movement.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Qorsaita Bridge \u2013 Lebanon<\/strong><\/p>\n Construction of Qorsaita Bridge in Lebanon will improve travel time between 35 villages in the Bqarsouna area in North Lebanon. CCL designed and is currently constructing the bridge using the balanced cantilever method, an incremental construction technique which employs specially-designed, hydraulically operated form travellers. These enable the structure to cantilever from both ends without the use of scaffolding. The 100-metre-long bridge will cross the valley 400 m above ground and will be the first balanced cantilever bridge to be constructed in Lebanon. For the area\u2019s 100,000 inhabitants the distance between Bqarsouna and Qorsaita will be reduced from 12 km to 2.5 km.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Novartis –\u00a0New Jersey, USA<\/strong><\/p>\n Maki Architects, the Japanese architectural practice responsible for Building 345 at Novartis\u2019 Oncology Research Centre\u00a0had designed a seamless and minimalist frontage that would cantilever out over open space, creating the impression of a floating, weightless environment. CCL worked with LERA Consulting to deliver a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor environments by minimising the slab thickness at the edge of the fa\u00e7ade, with a tapered post-tensioned slab ranging in depth from 500 mm at strong column support zones to just 200 mm at the perimeter. The structural support columns were set back 9.1 m from the edge of the building to create the cantilevered structure, with a 12.2 m reach at the corners.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Panorama Plaza, Lima, Peru<\/strong><\/p>\n Panorama Plaza is one of the most exclusive business centres in Lima. Each of the 19-storey towers split at level nine to create a void up to level 15. At level 15 CCL installed band beams spanning 16 m to support the remaining levels.<\/p>\n
